Driving Humanity into Business
A transformational process
“Change is the only constant” goes back to Heraclitus, but is as true now as it was 2,500 years ago. So it was with that in mind that we gathered at the end of last year to review how we have helped people to change organisations by changing their behaviour– and how we could evolve our own thinking.
It was stimulating. It was exciting. It was full of great stories. It was – well, transformational. That’s a word we hear a lot in the feedback from our workshops, so it was great to feel it applied to ourselves and how we define what good we are trying to do in the world.
We reinvigorated our “Why” – the essence of what we do, and how we want to do it.
We rediscovered the value of our shared values, the importance of authenticity, compassion and respect; shared beliefs about how people grow and learn and develop; shared thinking about leadership and change in organisations. A shared desire to do work in leadership development that stretches, is experiential, and requires us to work “in the now”, human to human. It’s leadership development that builds sustainable growth and change in leaders. Leaders who will go on to make a positive difference in the lives and work of those they lead.
We were galvanised by a conversation about purpose. We want to be bolder about what we do and why we do it. More activist. We revealed that we don’t just do it to earn a living (though that’s true); or because we do it because we enjoy it (also true) but that we do what we do because we have an agenda, an aim, a purpose that goes beyond that. We want to develop people who bring their full humanity to their leadership and create workplaces that are human, that nurture, grow and develop people, where they thrive and flourish rather than just survive. Not just because it will create high performance (though it will) but because it’s just the right thing to do.
(think this is a bit existential and unnecessary)We thought about how much stuff we read about “driving performance” and we thought, what we are doing is driving humanity into work. That’s what we are about and what we all feel attached to. That’s what we want to bring to our workshops – a way of leading that allows everyone to show up fully and bring their best selves into the room, not just work personas.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our workshops over the year – you’ll find them here – and we’d love to hear what you think, so please feel free to get in touch
